9. A QUOTE PLUS THE WORD: BILLY GRAHAM ON PRIORITIES
Authentic Christian living has its own order of priority in our lives: God first, others second, self third. Billy Graham
If we are asked to list the first 10 order of our life’s priorities, what would we list down? Are we really living according to our priorities? As Billy Graham quoted, the Bible also teaches us to seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33), set our minds on things that are above (Colossians 3:2), love the Lord with all our heart, soul and might (Deuteronomy 30:19). The second and third priorities lie in the second command of Jesus Christ which says, “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:31), where we can love others only when we know to love ourselves. We are not only to look to our own interests but also to the interests of others (Philippians 2:4). If we don’t care for our loved ones, the Scripture says that we have turned against our faith and are worse than a man who does not even believe in God (1 Timothy 5:8). So, if we say that we love God, we will without doubt love our family, friends and society. Our body is the temple of God and we are called to honour God with our body (1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We must learn to control our body in holiness and honour (1 Thessalonians 4:4-5). So, health care (Matthew 6:22-23; 3 John 1:2), healthy eating (1 Corinthians 10:31), disciplined life (1 Corinthians 9:25), physical workouts (1 Timothy 4:8), hard work (Proverbs 22:9) but no over work (Luke 10:40-41), rest (Genesis 2:2-3; Matthew 11:28-29), proper bed time (Psalm 127:2), etc should be in the top priorities list of our lives.
So, dear children of God, we prioritize God first by worshiping, praying, keeping His commandments and sharing His love with others. Next, we set our priority on our family, society and especially our children by caring for them. Then we place our concern on ourselves by taking care of ourselves and getting forward to see our goals fulfilled. Let’s check our priority list, redo it if necessary and live blessed lives. God bless you!
