Words are Powerful
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)
What does it mean?
Our words are powerful. They are capable enough to give or kill lives. The choice is ours and we either enjoy or destroy lives.
I remember one of my professors say often, ” A three inch tongue can slay a six feet man.”
Deuteronomy 8:3 says,
“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”
The second part of the same Word of God had been used by the Word (Jesus) who became flesh and made his dwelling among us (John 1:14). It is recorded in Matthew 4:4.
We, the children of the Eternal Word (Matthew 24:3) have been given the authority to manifest the same power in our lives too.
Many times, man’s words can break, discourage, destroy and kill.
But God’s words will always build, encourage, produce and give life.
Let us remember that we live not alone by the bread but by the word of God. So it is our responsibility to choose and practice to speak the life-giving words over our lives and the lives around us.
God bless you!
